Thanksgiving 2005

One of our aims of staying in Australia is to discover new people and their different cultures and ways of life. Hence, we had to celebrate "Thanksgiving" today. Probably it was more International than American, but who cares- it was my first Thanksgiving. Will cooked the chicken (we tried to get turkey, but...), Rich made cherry pie, which was by the way really good- well done, Rich... everbody prepared something and brought it over... It was a pretty nice and relaxed night. Thanks everybody!!!

Unfortunately I will miss next year "Altweiber" and "Karneval" in Germany. It's a pity, I know.. Thus we went this friday to a big Halloween party at the "Great Northern Hotel", organized by our flatmate Will, and partied all the more. Almost 500 people showed up. Well, not everybody was dressed up, but we were.. Everybody of us wore funny costumes.. We were the "Flintstones"... It was a really funny night! Especially Rich's kick out of the pub.. the funniest thing: He couldn't really understand why... Komisch, Rich- if u puke on the bar... well done, Dulli!!!...

So, I just have to pass two other finals in november and then... freetime until april.. isn't that awesome? And I feel so much better now, the sunshine of Australia is back :-)... After turnitin my last assignment we went to a Magic Dirt concert at the uni. Unfortunately they just played for about 40 minutes, but doesn't matter- we had a great time...

Octoberfest 2005 at 6pm

Newy, are u alright???... Well, I was pretty sure, that I don't wanna drink more than 2 beers at the octoberfest, but ... I don't know. Shit happens. It was the right time to leave and take a short nap...

OCTOBERFEST 2005

Lena won the "Jodel" competition and got a real "Maß" !!! And after practising it almost 100 times everybody can sing in german now. Just to remind u, guys: "Ein Prosit, ein Prosit, der Gemuetlichkeit...". Don't forget it!!!

OCTOBERFEST 2005

Hello everybody, I am still alive... Sorry that I was so busy the last time, but at the moment I have a lot of stuff to do. 2 assignments due to next week, one presentation, a final exam and another few things getting out of control. And everybody who knows me, knows how I am, if i am so busy- the most time depressed and almost goin' crazy... So, last friday I thought it would be good to forget all the stupid stuff for a while and we went to the "Octoberfest 2005".

Here we are... Octoberfest 2005 in Australia. Well, it was not as huge as in Germany (of course not)... but we felt a bit like back home. Weisswurst and Sauerkraut, german folk music.. So, punctual at 12pm we started drinking our first beer. It was not really a "maß", it was just a half litre, but who cares... beer is beer...

On the way back home...

After a steep climb and walk we entered the "Garden of Eden", which is a valley on a higher level than the creek bed of the canyon and its pools just invite to jump in. It was amazing to have a bath in the pools of Kings Canyon.

Kings Canyon

The Kings Canyon was the best part of the trip. It is located some 325 k in the south-west of Alice Springs. It is one of the most spectacular sights in central Australia- the sheer, 100m-high walls... The canyon area is a phenomenum in its own right.

And we did it!... We ate the Witchetty grubs. Unfortunately we named them after we found them, coz they were so cute and we couldn't really believe that we should eat them later("Dizzy" & "Squashy")... but it had to be done. So we cooked them on the ash of our campfire and ate them... and they were not bad! They tast like nutty eggs...
